Diabetology
At the Pavel Kolář Center for Exercise Medicine, we provide specialized care in the field of diabetology . Diabetology focuses primarily on patients with type 2 diabetes and its precursor – prediabetes , which are disorders of sugar metabolism that often develop slowly and initially without significant symptoms. We offer patients comprehensive diagnostics and long-term management with an emphasis on an individual approach and prevention of complications .
Diabetic care
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. It occurs when the body stops responding properly to its own insulin (called insulin resistance ) or cannot produce enough of it. The result is high blood sugar levels, which over time can damage blood vessels, nerves, and various organs.
Typical symptoms of type 2 diabetes include:
- frequent urination
- excessive thirst
- fatigue and general weakness
- delayed wound healing
- blurred vision
- recurrent infections (e.g. yeast infections)
Prediabetes is a condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. However, it increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Early detection and lifestyle changes can effectively prevent or at least significantly delay the development of diabetes.

The treatment of type 2 diabetes is closely related to body weight regulation. That is why our diabetes clinic cooperates with obesity medicine, where patients can undergo a detailed body composition examination (InBody), receive nutritional and exercise recommendations, and thus support the effectiveness of diabetes treatment. Thanks to the connection of both fields, we offer comprehensive care aimed at long-term stabilization of health.
