Healthy joints: prevention of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis

Blog - 2025-10-06

Our joints carry us our entire lives – and we often only give them back when they start to hurt. Osteoarthritis and osteoporosis are two very common diagnoses that increase with age. But the good news is that they are largely preventable.

Osteoarthritis affects the articular cartilage – first it loses elasticity, then it wears out, causing pain and stiffness. Osteoporosis is the “silent thief of bone mass” – it does not hurt for a long time, but it increases the risk of fractures. The prevention of both of these diseases has a common denominator: exercise and a healthy lifestyle.

The basic pillar is regular gentle exercise. Walking, swimming or exercising with a physiotherapist strengthens muscles, supports joint nutrition and slows down degenerative processes. Nutrition is no less important - the body needs enough calcium, vitamin D and protein. Weight also plays an important role: every extra kilogram means more strain on the load-bearing joints, especially the knees and hips.

At CPMPK, we offer both preventive programs and comprehensive orthopedic and physiotherapy care. If you occasionally have joint pain, have osteoporosis in your family, or simply want to think about the future - now is the right time to start.
